Thankyou,my grandfathers name is Leo,I was named after him. Lola is almost 6months old now & do about a 25minute walk everyday & she also goes to play with another dog for about an hour 4 days a week 🐶 but I think she needs a longer walk as this ones not wearing her out shes still full of energy after it! Walking Your Shih Tzu Puppy
by: Janice

First of all, Leona, may I say how much I love your name. My grandmother's name was Leona and even as a child, I thought it was a beautiful name.

Now for your question...

If you mean walking your dog on a leash for a short stroll around your home, then twice a day is plenty. They can't go far at first, but as they get older, they enjoy longer walks.

Remember that the Shih Tzu breed does not tolerate heat well, so long walks may need to be reduced on really warm days.

Shih Tzu are also considered to be a bracycephalic breed which means they may have some difficulties with breathing. Not all, but sometimes, Shih Tzu dogs do better with short walks spaced throughout the day.

If you mean, however, how often puppies need to go out to relieve themselves, then twice a day wound not be enough. Three month old puppies should have the opportunity to relieve themselves about every 1 1/2 to 2 hours during the day. They can go much longer at night.
