January 18, 2015
|Hello and Welcome to the Tiny Tzu Tips: Miracle Shih Tzu Newsletter
Quote of the Month
“Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in.” ― Mark Twain
Tip of the MonthKeep your Tzu's face clean and dry by offering water from a water bottle. You can purchase these bottles on line or at your local pet store.
Look for them in the small animal aisle. For multiple dog households, I recommend the larger bottles such as those sold for rabbits. Smaller ones (ferret) work great for that one special Tzu.
Bebe Mocha's Puppies Have Been SoldAll six puppies have found new homes and will be going home next week. This was a great group-very loving and affection-perfect cuddle buddies.
They are now very active and play much of the day. We thought it might be fun to see what they would do in the snow. Ordinarily Shih Tzu love snow and don't mind the cold. Unfortunately we've had some really cold days.
But, I was patient, and when the temperature rose a little I took the opportunity to introduce them to snow. Visit the website and click on the Available Puppies tab to view a video of them playing in the snow.
This was their first time outside, but you'd never know it the way they took to the great outdoors.

Training TipsIt's all about timing.
In dealing with human children, we always try to "catch them being good." It is no different with puppies. If you want them to respond to a command, first "catch" and reward them when they are doing what you want. The easiest commands to teach are those that they already know how to do such as sit and down.
After you catch them and reward, you can then add a verbal or hand clue and of course reward. Some puppies pick up these commands immediately, but not all, so don't get discouraged. Short training sessions several times a day work best.
Getting the timing right isn't as easy as it sounds. I still need to concentrate and practice constantly. Read more about puppy training tips. Shih Tzu Training

New ArrivalsHaven had a litter of two new babies, a girl and a boy, born January 12th, sometime between 2 and 4 AM on my son's pillow.
What is it with these Maltese Girls--I think they missed the memo about whelping in a whelping box.
These puppies are Maltese-Shih Tzu Hybrids. Mom and babies are doing fine, and my son didn't loose a second of sleep! We'll be adding more pictures soon. But in the meantime, take a quick peak. Shih Tzu Nursery A

Can't Find the Information You NeedDid you know I own another doggie site with tons of information not found on Miracle Shih Tzu? That's right, it is called Small Dog Place and though it is devoted to all things Small Dog, much of the information that may be "missing" from Miracle Shih Tzu can be found here. Check it out.
