Hi, Janice. I can't thank You enough for bringing Bella in my family. Bella is the smartest, funniest, gorgeous dog I have seen in my life. Thank You again and may God bless you. Mira L, Twinsburg OH
Notes from Miracle Shih Tzu...
Janice Here,
Thanks so much for writing Mira. Bella looks jubilant and pampered. Just to let everyone know, Bella was the first Shih Tzu I sold to a Twinsburg resident. Since then I've sold another. Who knows, Maybe Twinsburg, which is already the "Twin" capital of the world, may become the "Bella" capital of the world too.
I'm always so glad to hear about puppies born here at Miracle Shih Tzu in Northeast Ohio. It is amazing to me how so many people mention that their Shih Tzu is so intelligent. Of course, I always knew this, but then again, I guess I am a little biased.
Whether you call them clever problem solvers or just plain smart, they certainly have an uncanny way of understanding our inner psychic, perhaps better than we know ourselves. I often think about how my Shih Tzu dogs help me and keep me on a schedule…
They wake me up in the morning and make sure I get out of bed in a timely manner.
They alert me if something is wrong…a puppy got into trouble, a dog got out.
They tell me when to take a break, when to fix meals, when it is time for bed.
They help me relax when I’m anxious and give me energy when I’m feeling tired.
I often wonder whether they’ve taught me more than I’ve taught them.
Shih Tzu may not do well pulling sleds, flushing out prey, or retrieving waterfowl. The average person, however, who wants a dog that will be totally devoted, throughout their lives, you can’t beat the love and admiration a Shih Tzu will give to you. But, please don’t take my word for it.
If a sturdy little dog is what you want, the Shih Tzu is just perfect. They do well as a watch dog but are generally not considered to be overly yappy. They are sturdy enough to where you won’t feel like you will hurt them if you bump into them.
They adapt well to all situations: They love singles, couples, families and are equally happy living in a tiny apartment as they are wandering around in a palace.
They also make an excellent choice for anyone who has never had a dog as an adult. (Childhood canine friends just don’t count unless you were the rare child who had total responsibility for caring for your four legged friend.) They are easy to manage and willing to please, if not a little stubborn at times. Read up on this breed if you’re thinking about a puppy or adopting an older dog. The Shih Tzu may be just the right dog for you.
