Sophie Grace my Imperial Red and White

Sophie had a pattern on her that made it look like she had wings on her back. I called them her angel wings. Unfortunately, she gained her true angel wings on Feb 12th this year. I've been looking for a puppy with wings like hers. I've seen several but they were either males or already chosen. My question is, does this pattern have a name or is it completely coincidental? Thank you. I've attached the best picture explaining what I mean. The wings were a symmetrical marking on both sides. This photo only shows one side. The little guy next to her was her boyfriend lol He had wings too.

Hi, Janice Here from Miracle Shih Tzu

First, let me just say that I am sorry for your loss. Now, to answer your question.

I have not heard of a name for such markings in the Shih Tzu breed. In other breeds, it is often referred to as Piebald. Piebald is when you have a dog that is mostly white with a patch or patches of colors that can be random. In the case of your dog's boyfriend, his look rather symmetrical in the photo.

Shih Tzu are also born with colored patches but as the hair grows in, it is difficult to tell where one color starts and the next color ends. So, an 8 week old Shih Tzu puppy will not show those distinct markings that were present when he was born.
